Day 1: Arrival & Cultural Experience
Arrive in Wanci, the main gateway to Wakatobi, and receive a warm welcome. After pickup from the harbor, transfer to your accommodation and settle in. Then, begin your city tour and visit Mola Village, home to the Bajo people, also known as “sea gypsies.” These indigenous seafarers have lived on the ocean for centuries, building stilt houses above the water. Walk through the village and observe their traditional way of life. Because the community relies on fishing and boat-making, you’ll see unique wooden boats and seafood drying under the sun. After an enriching visit, return to your accommodation for the night.
Day 2: Island Hopping & Marine Adventure
Start the day with a boat ride from Wanci to Kaledupa Island. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, but the scenic ocean views make it enjoyable. After checking into your accommodation on Kaledupa or Hoga Island, take another short boat trip to Hoga Island. Because of its crystal-clear waters and thriving coral reefs, Hoga is one of the best snorkeling and diving spots in Wakatobi. Spend the day exploring vibrant marine life, swimming alongside colorful fish, and discovering stunning coral formations. After an unforgettable underwater experience, relax and enjoy the peaceful island atmosphere before heading back to your stay.
Day 3: Bajo Village in Sampela
Travel to Sampela Village, another Bajo community in Kaledupa. Unlike Mola, this village is built entirely on stilts over the sea. Walk along wooden pathways and interact with friendly locals. Because they have lived in harmony with the ocean for generations, their knowledge of marine life is remarkable. Learn about their fishing techniques and daily life before heading back for a relaxing evening.
Day 4: Return to Wanci & Departure
In the morning, take a public ferry or speedboat back to Wanci (approximately 1 hour). Then, catch your ferry or speedboat to Kendari or Bau-Bau for your onward journey. Although the trip is short, it offers an unforgettable glimpse into Wakatobi’s culture and natural beauty.
