Your adventure, Kalimantan Whale Shark & Orangutan Tour, begins upon arrival at Berau Airport. Meet our local guide for a warm welcome before a comfortable transfer to your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a short sightseeing trip around Tanjung Redeb town, where you can experience the daily life of the locals. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay in Berau.
Day 02: Dayak Culture & Orangutan Jungle Trek (B L D)
After breakfast, drive to Benua Baru Village, home of the Dayak Kayan tribe. You’ll be welcomed by a traditional Dayak ceremony and witness intricate carvings, tattoos, and long-ear traditions that reflect ancient Chinese and Dong Son cultural influences. Continue your journey to Merasa Village and cruise along the Lesan River by motor canoe. The riverbanks are alive with wildlife—monkeys, hornbills, and the occasional otter. Stop at Pulau Bawan, the island known for wild orangutans, followed by a short jungle trek that may lead to a hidden waterfall or limestone cave. Late afternoon, return to Berau via Merasa with dinner en route and overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Labuan Cermin – The Magical Mirror Lake (B L D)
After breakfast, travel overland to Biduk Biduk, a coastal paradise. Board a traditional boat to Labuan Cermin Lake, famous for its crystal-clear layers of freshwater and saltwater that mirror the sky. Swim or snorkel amidst this rare phenomenon surrounded by lush forest. Continue to Talisayan, visiting a Bajau sea-gypsy village to observe their ocean-based lifestyle. Dinner and overnight stay in Talisayan.
Day 04: Whale Shark Encounter – Departure (B L –)
Start early and sail to the open sea near Talisayan Bay. Here, you’ll have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to swim and snorkel with gentle whale sharks—the ocean’s largest fish. Observe these majestic creatures respectfully without touching them. After this unforgettable experience, return to Talisayan and transfer by car back to Berau for your hotel or onward flight. Lunch will be served en route.
